St. Augustine’s Catholic Primary School is celebrating after moving from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ in their latest Ofsted inspection, marking a significant transformation for the school. The inspectors commended the school for its positive changes and praised the dedication of staff and leadership in driving improvements since the previous inspection. In their report, Ofsted highlighted the school’s progress, noting that “many parents say the school is transformed since the last inspection,” reflecting the renewed confidence and satisfaction within the school community. Parents have welcomed the changes, and their support has been vital in the school’s journey towards achieving a 'Good' rating.

The report also commended the excellent behaviour of pupils, stating that “pupils are extremely polite, and they behave well in lessons.” This shift in behaviour demonstrates the school’s commitment to fostering a respectful and positive learning environment where students feel supported and valued.

The inspectors were particularly impressed with the school’s approach to early reading, stating that “early reading is taught well,” ensuring that pupils develop a strong foundation in literacy from the outset of their education. This focus on early reading has helped to create a culture of learning and achievement across the school, further contributing to the positive outcomes for students.

Staff at St. Augustine’s were also praised in the report, with inspectors noting that “staff are very positive about the improvements since the last inspection.” The team’s enthusiasm for continuous improvement has helped to create a supportive and motivated environment where both teachers and students can excel.

The journey from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ has been a testament to the school’s commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes for all pupils. St. Augustine’s Catholic Primary School now looks forward to continuing its progress and building on its successes in the years to come.

Katie Whitehead, Headteacher said "We are immensely proud of the positive feedback given by the inspectors during the course of the inspection.  Our change of judgement is a true reflection of the hard work, energy and dedication of all staff, children, school community, governors and BHCET, who are all part of the St. Augustine's family. Moving forward we are committed to building on our strengths and addressing areas for further enhancement to provide the best possible outcome for all children."
