Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is a family of schools consisting of 30 Catholic primaries and 5 secondaries, serving the communities of Darlington, County Durham, Stockton and Hartlepool.
The aim of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is to provide a practical and moral purpose to the furthering of education, giving strength and a collective responsibility for the educational welfare of pupils in our schools. Pupils are the centre of all decision making and Christ is at the heart of our moral purpose.
Our Trust shapes its collaboration through the fundamental principles of Catholic Social Teaching. School leaders work together for the common good, all pupils feel safe, welcomed and supported with every possible opportunity and staff benefit from a collective approach that respects and values professional agency.

Aspiring politicians and a talented musician were among the students celebrating their A-Level success at The English Martyrs Sixth Form College (EM6). Friends Sam B and Sam C have both combined their studies with active roles in local politics and are now set to take the next step towards careers in public service. Also celebrating was talented musician and Deputy Head Student Bridget, who achieved an A* in French and As in Music and English Literature.
“One of our most gifted students” is how St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form College Headteacher Lisa Byron sums up Maths whizz Imogen. Imogen not only finished her Maths A-Level in 2025 – a year early and earning a top A* grade – but today also secured an A* in Further Maths and an A in Chemistry at the Bishop Auckland school.

We are proud to offer a wide range of enriching opportunities that go beyond the classroom. All children have access to exciting experiences such as trips abroad through the Turing Scheme, participation in athletic events, and engaging Modern Foreign Language days. We also encourage pupil voice through involvement in our Trust-wide Pupil Parliament, ensuring every child has the chance to develop new skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories.
