Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is a family of schools consisting of 30 Catholic primaries and 5 secondaries, serving the communities of Darlington, County Durham, Stockton and Hartlepool.
The aim of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is to provide a practical and moral purpose to the furthering of education, giving strength and a collective responsibility for the educational welfare of pupils in our schools. Pupils are the centre of all decision making and Christ is at the heart of our moral purpose.

On Thursday, 5th March, children across our Trust came together to celebrate the magic of reading as we marked World Book Day 2026. The day was filled with excitement and imagination as pupils arrived dressed as their favourite characters - from classic storybook heroes to much‑loved modern icons.

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Celebrates Outstanding CSI Report
St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Barnard Castle is celebrating after receiving the highest possible judgement - Grade 1 (Outstanding) in all areas - in its recent Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) report. Inspectors praised the school for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, noting that St Mary’s is “deeply rooted in its Catholic identity and mission, which is proudly proclaimed and enthusiastically lived by everyone.”
