Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is a family of schools consisting of 30 Catholic primaries and 5 secondaries, serving the communities of Darlington, County Durham, Stockton and Hartlepool.

The aim of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust is to provide a practical and moral purpose to the furthering of education, giving strength and a collective responsibility for the educational welfare of pupils in our schools. Pupils are the centre of all decision making and Christ is at the heart of our moral purpose.

Our Trust shapes its collaboration through the fundamental principles of Catholic Social Teaching. School leaders work together for the common good, all pupils feel safe, welcomed and supported with every possible opportunity and staff benefit from a collective approach that respects and values professional agency.

Every day across Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, we know there are extraordinary examples of people making a difference to the lives of others in schools, teams and the wider community. We want to celebrate the young people and adults in our Trust who are an inspiration to us all. We are delighted to launch the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust Virtues Awards 2026 taking place on Thursday 22nd October 2026 and invite nominations from across our Trust community.

The English Martyrs Celebrates Outstanding Recognition for Catholic Life and Mission and Collective Worship

The English Martyrs Catholic School & Sixth Form College in Hartlepool is celebrating after receiving Outstanding judgements in both Catholic Life and Mission and Collective Worship following its recent Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) inspection. The report highlights the school's deeply embedded Catholic ethos, exceptional pastoral care and strong sense of community, recognising the significant impact these have on students, staff and families.

We are proud to offer a wide range of enriching opportunities that go beyond the classroom. All children have access to exciting experiences such as trips abroad through the Turing Scheme, participation in athletic events, and engaging Modern Foreign Language days. We also encourage pupil voice through involvement in our Trust-wide Pupil Parliament, ensuring every child has the chance to develop new skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories.
