The sports courts came alive with energy and talent as Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust brought together students from across its five secondary schools for the Trust’s annual Netball Festival, held at The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College in Hartlepool on Wednesday 18th June.
The event welcomed players from Years 7 to 10, representing Carmel College, St. Michael’s Catholic Academy, St. John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form College, Our Lady & St. Bede Catholic Academy, and The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College. Across all age groups, students demonstrated incredible teamwork, determination, and skill, making it a memorable celebration of sport and school spirit.
Throughout the day, the atmosphere was one of encouragement, healthy competition and unity across the Trust. Teachers and staff were proud to witness such a high level of talent on display, with students not only competing but also showing respect, leadership and resilience — key values that BHCET champions both on and off the court.
The festival concluded with a special awards presentation, where students were recognised for their efforts and achievements. Awards included:
- Winner’s Medals for each age group team
- Certificates of Participation for all players
- Player of the Tournament (Years 7–10) - Y7: Mila P (Carmel), Y8: Neive W (St. John's), Y9: Elise G (St. John's), Y10: Grace I and Maiya J (St. John's)
- BHCET Virtues Award (Years 7-10) – Y7: Rosie S (St. John's), Y8: Lilly W (EMS), Y9: Lola L (OLSB), Y10: Imogen W (Carmel)
The event highlighted the Trust’s ongoing commitment to developing character, confidence, and a love of sport through shared experiences. Events like this not only strengthen skills but also help build friendships and unity across the wider school community.
BHCET would like to thank the staff at English Martyrs for hosting, the PE departments across all schools for their support, and most of all, the students — for showing what true sportsmanship looks like.
