Councillor Jonathan Dulston, a respected figure in the community, had the honour of officially reopening the newly renovated classrooms by ceremoniously cutting the ribbon. The event gained attention from key stakeholders in education, with representatives from the Department for Education (DfE) and Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust attending the event. Their support and involvement emphasised the collaborative effort invested in the school's renovation project.
The reopening festivities commenced with a warm welcome from the school's enthusiastic pupils, who proudly showcased their school spirit and excitement for the newly renovated spaces. Attendees came together for a Celebration of the Word event, which was followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony. As the day unfolded, guests were treated to an afternoon of entertainment, further highlighting the lively and energetic atmosphere at St Teresa's Catholic Primary School.
Mrs Strachan, Headteacher of St Teresa's Catholic Primary School, expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the renovation project and the reopening event. She remarked, “I’m absolutely delighted to celebrate our school family all being back together under a RAAC free roof” and “I’d like to thank lots of people who have worked with us so well with us during this experience. Councillor Jonathan Dulston who opened Firthmoor Community Centre and has supported us from day one, Peter Gibson who sent several messages of support throughout, James Stuart Mills from the DFE, our Trust team, Thornton Firkin and T Manners who successfully rebuilt the classrooms for our children. Throughout this whole process our focus has been to ensure that our children were able to experience love, laughter and learning in the usual St Teresa's way”.
