This week (9–15 February), schools in Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust have come together to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week, joining thousands across the country in shining a light on the importance of supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing.

This year’s theme, “This Is My Place,” encourages children to explore where - and with whom - they feel safe, supported and valued. Across our Trust, our schools have embraced this message by creating inclusive spaces where every child can confidently say: “This is my place.”

Activities Across our Trust

Throughout the week, classrooms have been filled with thoughtful, creative and reflective activities designed to help children understand and communicate their feelings. Pupils have enjoyed:

  • Talking About Feelings - taking time to share emotions and recognise how different feelings can shape their day.
  • One Colour at a Time - using colour and creativity to express mood, identity and personal experiences.
  • Exploring the Theme “This Is My Place” - discussing the people, places and moments that help them feel they belong.
  • Daily Wellbeing Activities - from calming colouring to reflective reading sessions.

Some schools began the week with a whole-school assembly, led by their wellbeing leaders, setting a supportive tone and reminding pupils that emotional wellbeing is something we all share responsibility for.

A Trust United in Belonging

To mark the occasion, our Trust has come together in solidarity to create a special video celebrating the theme “This Is My Place.”

The video highlights the caring, inclusive environments within all our schools - places where children feel free to talk, feel, reflect, and care for one another. It stands as a reminder that emotional wellbeing is nurtured through connection, kindness and a sense of belonging.

Creating Places Where Every Child Belongs

Across our Trust, we remain committed to building communities where every child feels seen, heard and supported. Children’s Mental Health Week is a valuable moment to pause and reflect - but the compassion, understanding and togetherness shown this week will continue long after.

Together, we make our schools safe places to grow.
Together, we remind every child: This is your place.
