Pupils at St John's Catholic School & Sixth Form College in Bishop Auckland are benefitting from lower energy bills thanks to Great British Energy-funded solar panels, as installation is completed.
As part of the scheme by Great British Energy and the UK government, St John's is one of around 250 schools and colleges across England to receive its share of up to £255 million in funding to install solar panels across school rooftops to help power our classrooms with cleaner energy.
Alongside other energy efficiency measures, the solar panels will help us save money on energy bills and redirect savings into pupils’ education from textbooks, technology and teaching.
