Students across Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust wowed audiences last week with three outstanding musical theatre productions, showcasing exceptional talent, dedication and creativity both on stage and behind the scenes.
From 6th-10th July, three schools across our Trust transformed their venues into Broadway-worthy stages, with performances of High School Musical at Our Lady & St Bede Catholic Academy, Sister Act at Carmel College, and Little Shop of Horrors at St John's Catholic School & Sixth Form College.
Wildcats Bring East High to Life at OLSB
At Our Lady & St Bede Catholic Academy, students embraced their inner Wildcats in a vibrant and energetic production of High School Musical. Featuring all the beloved characters, catchy songs and memorable dance numbers audiences know and love, the cast delivered a performance full of enthusiasm, confidence and teamwork.
Carmel Students Raise the Roof with Sister Act
Meanwhile, Carmel College had audiences clapping along to the feel-good musical comedy Sister Act. Bursting with humour, uplifting music and outstanding choreography, the production showcased the incredible talents of students across the college. The cast brought warmth and energy to the story of Deloris Van Cartier and the convent community, delivering powerful vocal performances and plenty of laughs along the way.
St John’s Blooms in Little Shop of Horrors
At St John's Catholic School & Sixth Form College, students took on the darkly comic cult favourite Little Shop of Horrors. Audiences were captivated by the story of Seymour, Audrey and the infamous man-eating plant, Audrey II, brought to life through fantastic performances, impressive characterisation and creative stagecraft. Balancing comedy, drama and memorable musical numbers, the cast delivered a polished production that highlighted the confidence, versatility and dedication of everyone involved.
Celebrating Creativity Across our Trust
These three productions represent much more than a week of entertainment. They are a celebration of the creativity, commitment and collaboration that thrive across BHCET schools.
From leading roles and ensemble performances to lighting, sound, costumes, stage management and set design, many students and staff contributed to the success of these productions. Their hard work, resilience and passion were evident in every performance.
A huge congratulations goes to all of the casts, crews, musicians, staff and volunteers who made these productions such memorable events. Their achievements are a testament to the performing arts opportunities available across our Trust and the remarkable talents of our young people.
Bravo to everyone involved – and what a fantastic way to conclude another exciting year for the arts across BHCET.
