St. Augustine’s Catholic Primary School proudly celebrated the official opening of its brand-new nursery, Little Bumble Nursery, with a joyful ribbon-cutting ceremony, a guided tour of the welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces, and a heartwarming performance by the school choir. Guests, pupils and staff came together to mark this special occasion with cake and community spirit.

Although Little Bumble Nursery welcomed its first children on 8th September, the official opening on 10th October was a momentous milestone for the school. The nursery, which has been thoughtfully planned and constructed over the summer holidays, features a fully refurbished and repurposed space designed to nurture early learning. With its own dedicated entrance for parents and a location adjacent to the Reception class, the nursery offers a seamless transition into primary education.

Headteacher of St. Augustine’s, Katie Whitehead, shared her pride in the new addition:

“The opening of Little Bumble Nursery is a proud moment for St Augustine's. Opening a nursery has been my vision since returning to St. Augustine's, and to see it happen is truly special. The full refurbishment and repurposing of the space has made this possible – creating a vibrant and happy Early Years setting where children can thrive. It will build strong foundations for our youngest learners in a place where tiny wings learn to fly and little hearts begin to blossom. We are incredibly grateful to Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, governors and our dedicated staff team for making this vision a reality.”

Malcolm Frank, a Director at Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, also expressed his support:

“This was long overdue and well needed. I wish it had been here when my grandchildren were young.”

Little Bumble Nursery represents a significant step forward in the school’s commitment to providing high-quality early years education in a nurturing and inspiring environment. The school looks forward to welcoming many more families and children into this exciting new chapter.
