There was jubilation at Wembley Arena yesterday as Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School’s under‑11 girls’ football team were crowned National League Trust champions, following a thrilling 2–1 victory in the final.
The Hartlepool school’s team delivered an outstanding performance on the national stage, securing the title after a remarkable journey through local, regional and northern rounds to reach the final at the home of English football. Playing with confidence, determination and teamwork, the girls rose to the occasion in front of a proud crowd of staff, families and supporters, bringing the trophy back to the North East and marking a historic moment for the school and the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust.

The same day, St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School’s under‑11 boys’ team also competed bravely in their national final at Wembley. Despite a hard‑fought match, the Darlington side were defeated 2–0, bringing an end to an unforgettable journey that saw them become Darlington’s first-ever primary school team to reach a Wembley final.
Both Sacred Heart and St Augustine’s pupils represented their schools, our Trust and their communities with pride throughout the competition. Their achievements reflect not only sporting excellence but also resilience, teamwork and the high-quality teaching and support across our Trust.
As a Trust, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to every player involved and we also thank the staff, families and supporters who travelled to London to cheer the teams on, helping to make the day such a memorable experience.
We are immensely proud of all our pupils - champions on the pitch and role models beyond it.
