St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School in Hartlepool has officially opened its new Helping Hands Hub, offering practical support to families in the local community.
On Friday 19th June, the school marked the launch of the initiative with a special celebration attended by pupils, parents, carers, governors, and invited guests. The event began with children performing songs, creating a joyful and welcoming atmosphere.
Headteacher Jo Wilson officially opened the hub by cutting the ribbon to the dedicated space within the school. The opening was further honoured by the presence of Bishop Stephen, who blessed the new facility.
The Helping Hands Hub has been created to provide support for families by offering access to clothing and toys for children, reflecting the school’s commitment to care, community, and Catholic social teaching.

Speaking about the initiative, Headteacher Jo Wilson said:
"We are so proud to be able to offer much needed support to families in our community and live out the mission of Christ to always provide help to those in need. The day has been a joyous occasion with parish, school and community coming together. We enjoyed welcoming Bishop Stephen to the school to partake in a liturgy with us and have celebrated through songs, hymns and time with each other."
The launch event was well attended and warmly received by all who joined, highlighting the strong sense of community within the school. In the afternoon, celebrations continued with a community event welcoming parents, carers, and local support agencies. Pupils shared work focused on community support and Catholic social teaching, alongside further performances.
Guests were also invited to enjoy refreshments, including tea, coffee, and cake, providing an opportunity for families and community partners to come together and celebrate this important new chapter for the school.
The Helping Hands Hub marks another step forward in St Cuthbert’s ongoing commitment to supporting its families and strengthening community connections across Hartlepool.
