Students from across the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust came together today, Thursday 18 June, for the annual Trust-wide netball tournament, hosted by The English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College in Hartlepool.
The event featured two competitive tournaments at Under 13 and Under 15 level, bringing together teams from across our Trust for a day of sport, teamwork and celebration of student achievement.
Across both competitions, players demonstrated exceptional skill, determination and resilience, embodying the values of BHCET and showcasing the high standard of netball played across our Trust. Staff and spectators were proud to see students excel both on and off the court.

In the U13 tournament, EMS secured first place following a strong series of performances, with Carmel College finishing second and St John’s School third. The Player of the Tournament was awarded to Romie from Carmel, while Sophia from OLSB was recognised for exemplifying the BHCET Virtues.
The U15 competition saw St John’s School take first place, with hosts EMS finishing as runners-up and Carmel in third. Estelle from EMS was named Player of the Tournament, while Indi from St John’s received the BHCET Virtues Award.
Rebecca Leighton, Head of PE at EMS said:
“We are incredibly proud of all the students who took part today. The standard of play was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see such sportsmanship, resilience and teamwork across both tournaments. Events like this highlight the strength of sport within our Trust and the opportunities we provide for our young people.”
Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust extends sincere thanks to The English Martyrs School for hosting and organising another successful and enjoyable event.
