A keen badminton player netted his exam results today. As well as studying for his GCSEs at St John’s Catholic School, in Bishop Auckland, Robert also represents the school on the badminton court – and was recently named a County Durham champion at a regional tournament.
Robert’s dedication to sport and studies were challenged when his dad tragically passed away two years ago, but school staff say Robert’s “kindness, determination, and quiet stoicism” shone through during the family’s difficult time.
Robert went on to earn both Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, and won the school’s Virtue Award for Resilience, all recognising his strength of character. For his part, Robert has no plans to leave the school just yet, and intends to carry on his education at the school’s sixth form college.
