On December 17th, Carmel College proudly hosted a special event to commemorate its 100-year legacy of excellence in Catholic education. This remarkable milestone stands as a testament to the dedication of the college’s staff, students, and community over the past century.

The centenary was marked with a series of memorable events celebrating the college’s rich history, achievements, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence and Catholic values.

The evening began with a Mass of Thanksgiving, celebrated by Bishop Stephen Wright as the Principal Celebrant. This Mass provided a moment of gratitude for the countless blessings and accomplishments of Carmel College over the past 100 years. Following the Mass, a Blessing and Reveal of the Centenary Timeline ceremony took place, honouring the college’s storied history. The timeline showcased key milestones that have defined Carmel College’s century-long journey.

In a heartfelt speech Carmel's headteacher Melanie Kane stated, "It is an honour to be the serving principal in Carmel’s centenary year and to maintain the outstanding education that young people have received over the last hundred years".

Once the Thanksgiving and Blessing were over guests were then welcomed to a drink's reception, where they enjoyed refreshments and canapés while mingling and reminiscing about the college’s rich heritage. An exhibition featuring the St. Mary’s and Carmel College archives offered attendees a captivating glimpse into the institution’s history, highlighting significant moments and cherished memories from the past century.

The evening’s celebrations concluded with a Centenary Concert, bringing the community together through music. The performances reflected Carmel College’s vibrant spirit and celebrated the cultural heritage fostered over its 100-year history.

Carmel College extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in and supported these centennial events, making them a true celebration of the college’s legacy. The centenary was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look ahead to a bright future.
