St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in Billingham is delighted to announce that it has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating in all areas following a recent inspection by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI).

The report celebrates St. Michael’s as a “welcoming, inclusive, genuine and authentic Catholic school where students and staff ‘love to be’,” praising its culture of care and compassion. Inspectors highlighted the school’s commitment to serving the wider community and going “the extra mile to support those in greatest need.”

Among the many strengths recognised in the report were:

  • A deep sense of value, care and inclusion felt by all students.
  • An “outstanding array of chaplaincy opportunities,” with strong student leadership.
  • Visionary leadership that inspires students and staff to embrace and develop their own faith.
  • A passionate and talented RE department that makes learning “exciting and inspiring.”
  • Deeply engaging and powerful prayer and liturgy, using “innovative approaches to collective worship.”

The CSI’s findings reflect the unwavering dedication of the entire St. Michael’s community - from staff and students to families and local clergy. This recognition is a testament to the school’s ongoing mission to nurture young people spiritually, academically, and emotionally within a strong Catholic ethos.
